Ossining, NY, March 23, 2019 – Kaja Gam Design of Ossining has been awarded her eight consecutive “Best Of Houzz” award for Customer Satisfaction by Houzz, the leading platform for home remodeling and design.
What does it take to consistently receive such accolades? Kaja Gam believes it takes an unrelenting belief in creating a design based on the client’s style not her own. She says it is important to her that each project results in a space that portrays the personality of those living in it but also provides a cohesive and functional design.
As an example, Gam cites a recent project for a busy Westchester family. They needed more space to handle laundry and storage for their three boys and toddler daughter – but needed it to fit in only 100 square feet.
Gam made the space “just so” and avoided the temptation to make it huge. Working within the client’s parameters and applying creative solutions to layout and treatments, a crammed entryway was transformed into an airy and welcoming mudroom. “We were able to squeeze a lot into a tiny space including, a double laundry, ample storage and a sink big enough for a muddy toddler to get a sits-bath in,” explains Gam.
In the end, the client had an aesthetically-pleasing, custom-built entry, that a grown-up can enjoy, yet with a focus on practicality.
“When most people hear the word 'addition,' they envision something big like a den or a master suite with vaulted ceilings over a new double garage. But a small, well-designed addition can have as big an impact as a mega square foot addition.” says Gam of the project.
It was a long process from design through building permits to basically build a small house with a full foundation, but in the end, the project was worth it. As the client said: "...the work has come out beautifully and beyond our expectations. Really awesome."
To Gam, that is what it takes to be an eight-time, award-winning designer.
